Lady Mustangs crush Cedar Ridge, fall to Marked Tree
Holly Stockton and Lexi Walls drove in four runs each, helping Buffalo Island Central crush Cedar Ridge 14-6 in high school softball action Tuesday at Monette. Stockton singled and doubled while Walls also had a double. Lexie Ray helped out with a single, a double and two RBI while earning the victory on the mound with seven strikeouts.
The Lady Mustangs jumped to an early 8-0 lead, scoring three in the first and five runs in the second. Cedar Ridge scored two in the third, but BIC answered with three in the bottom of the inning to push their lead to 11-2. The Lady Timberwolves got a run back in the fourth, but BIC scored two of their own in the bottom of the frame, increasing their lead to 13-3. Cedar Ridge tacked on three more runs in the top of the fifth to close the gap to 13-6, but failed to score the rest of the way.
The Lady Indians scored eight runs in the third inning, helping Marked Tree post a 10-7 victory over BIC Thursday. BIC trailed 10-2 after five innings, but rallied late to trim the lead to three runs. Harley Daniels went 4-4 with three RBI to lead Marked Tree.
Jealynn Cates homered and doubled while driving in four runs to pace the Lady Mustangs. Olivia Cornish had a pair of singles and an RBI while Vicky Esparza singled, doubled and drove in a run.
BIC returns to the diamond Monday with a doubleheader on the road at Marked Tree. BIC will travel to Lepanto to face East Poinsett County Tuesday before ending the week with a double header against Cross County Thursday at Monette.
