Monette City Council accepts resignation at special called meeting

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

The Monette City Council held a special meeting March 13 at city hall to discuss city business.

The city dog catcher, Bill Benham, resigned following a change in pay to city dog catcher from $100 per week to $35 per dog. Employees from Sanitation and Water departments will take turns caring for any animals in the shelter temporarily until a replacement is hired.

The Council approved the purchase of a generator for use in the storm shelter.

A brief discussion was held concerning a water line to run from the Masonic Lodge to the new bypass. The decision was tabled for the time being.

The special meeting adjourned for a working meeting. Council members looked into changes to be made to salary schedules for all city employees. More meetings will be scheduled throughout the year in preparation of the 2018 budget.

The next Monette City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 27.
