Lions end regular season with split

Manila senior athletes recognized at last home game of the season.

Manila split a pair of conference games to close out the regular season. The Lions (16-10 overall, 8-8 conference) hammered Gosnell 60-42 Tuesday night at Lion Gym before dropping a 73-64 decision to Westside Friday on Senior Night.

Joel Burrow canned five treys and finished with 18 points in Manila's victory over Gosnell. Matthew May and Bradey Woodall scored 12 points apiece while Dylon Carruth also hit double digits with 10 points. Brock Birmingham tallied six while Conner Belew added two points.

Manila sank 14-16 free throws and finished with six three pointers. The Lions held a 13-8 lead after the first quarter and clung to a 23-22 halftime edge. Manila took a 41-33 advantage into the fourth period.

Burrow continued his hot streak, scoring 25 points in Friday's loss to Westside as the junior banged home six three pointers. Woodall buried five triples and finished with 17 points while Birmingham chipped in 14 points. Belew and Abraham Lopez netted three points apiece while Carruth and Dalton Hitchcock contributed two points each.

Avery Felts scored 20 of his team high 22 points in the second half to pace the Warriors. Cullen Felkins sank six treys and scored 18 points while Tanner Rowell and Ryley Felkins pitched in 14 points apiece.

The Lions will enter district tournament play at Osceola as the third seed from the East. Manila will battle the two seed from the West, Piggott, at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
