Lark June Fleeman

Lark June Fleeman, lovingly known as Granny, 83, of Manila, passed from this life Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born in Paragould to the late Lark and Bessie Hester Shasteen, she was raised in the Bard community and moved, along with her family, to the Manila area in 1937. She was a 1951 graduate of Manila High School and married her high school sweetheart Paul Wayne Fleeman in 1952. The couple lived several years in Orange, Texas, where Mr. Fleeman was stationed while serving in the U.S. Navy before returning to Manila in 1954.

A devout Christian, she had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Manila since the age of 13, where she served in many capacities throughout her life, including Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, GA leader, and choir member. June could not suppress her love for Jesus and was always eager to witness to others. She was extremely active as a mentor and counselor to countless young Christians in developing their faith and enhancing the Lord's Kingdom. She was instrumental in founding the King's Closet clothing program for underprivileged children in Manila.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Paul Wayne Fleeman of Manila; two sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie Fleeman (Symantha) of Manila and Charlie Fleeman (Pam) of Manila; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula Cole (Johnny) of Memphis, Tenn. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Freddie Russell Fleeman, Christopher Fleeman, Ashley Cole, Johnny Paul Cole, Austin Cole, Jessica June Barksdale, Charles Andrew Fleeman, Paul Ray Fleeman, and four great-grandchildren, Siarra Fleeman, Sawyer Fleeman, Lyla June Barksdale and Nash Harper Barksdale.

Funeral service was 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at the First Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. Ray Dill and Dr. Matt Pryor officiating. Burial followed in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family received visitors Sunday evening from 5-7 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Mrs. Fleeman's grandsons, Freddie Russell Fleeman, Christopher Fleeman, Johnny Paul Cole, Charles Andrew Fleeman, Austin Cole, and Paul Ray Fleeman.
