Lady Rebels clinch top seed in district tournament
Riverside clinched the top seed in the upcoming 3A District Tournament with a 60-36 victory over Rivercrest Thursday night at Lake City.
The Lady Rebels got a game high 16 points from Haven Robertson while Bailey Fisher chipped in 11 more.
Riverside bolted to a 19-5 lead after the opening quarter and took a 36-14 advantage into the dressing room at intermission. The Lady Rebels held a 49-23 lead after three periods of play,
In junior high action, Riverside improved to 25-5 on the season, hammering out a 55-19 win over the Lady Colts. Grace Puckett paced three Lady Rebels in double digits, scoring 16 points, while Anna Meurer and Beaner Hoffman added 11 and 10 points respectively.
Riverside kicked off the week with a 48-35 victory Monday night at Harrisburg. The Lady Hornets held a slim 16-14 edge after the opening quarter before the Lady Rebels rallied to take a 33-25 halftime advantage. Riverside held a 40-32 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Robertson pumped in 16 points to lead the Riverside. Fisher scored 12 while Briley Douglas added 11 points.
Jessica Webb paced Harrisburg with 14 points.
In junior high play, Riverside clobbered the Lady Hornets 48-21. Puckett led the Lady Rebels with 15 while Hoffman chipped in 13.
Riverside (25-7) will close out the regular season with a road trip Monday night to Trumann.
