Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan welcomed newly elected aldermen Toby Rand and Mike George to the Jan. 16 council meeting.

Council accepted the AT&T contract which offers the City $400 per month to lease property for the tower, with a five year renewal for 30 years which includes an increase of 7.5 percent at each renewal.

Aldermen Harold Barker, Tommy Eakins and Danny Dunigan asked that before the budget be approved the mayor and the clerk's salary be discussed. After discussion council approved to add an additional $1,668 each to the mayor and the clerk salaries, making the total raise for the mayor $2,500 and the clerk $2,500 for 2017.

Mayor Milligan said the City had received payment from American Tower in the amount of $25,000 for a perpetual easement. He said Police Department is in need of another vehicle and suggested using said funds and an additional $1,325 to purchase a 2017 Ford Explorer. Council approved the purchase.

Council voted unanimously to table the 2017 budget until the meeting next week so amendments could be made.
