Earle sweeps past Lady Mustangs
Defending 2A State Champion Earle got off to a sluggish start Friday night before kicking into gear behind the offensive play of Roshala Scott as the Lady Bulldogs handed Buffalo Island Central a 52-35 defeat at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette. It was the second win of the week for Earle over BIC, who downed the Lady Mustangs 51-36 Tuesday night at Earle.
Scott finished the night with 17 points and got help from teammates Veronica Sanders and Ladaria Childs, who both scored 10 points apiece.
Heather SIpes led BIC with 13 points. Madison Nowlin scored seven, Haddyn Hurst and Jona Carmichael pitched in six points apiece, Morgan James had two while Molly Hart finished with one point.
In the junior high contest, Earle claimed a 43-29 win over the Lady Mustangs. Emma Graddy led BIC with 10 points. Vicky Esparza scored eight, Lexi Riley had four, Hanah Carle, Haley Milligan and Lacey Dewitt netted two points each while Diana Adams chipped in one point.
Scott scored 18 points in the Lady Bulldogs's Tuesday night win over BIC. Earle led 13-8 after the first period before stretching their lead to 30-13 at the half. The Lady Bulldogs took a 39-24 lead into the fourth quarter.
Hurst drained five three pointers and finished with 17 points to lead BIC. Nowlin tallied seven, Hart had six while Sipes, Carmichael and James all added two points apiece.
In junior high action, Earle rolled to a 40-23 victory. Esparza topped the Lady Mustangs with 11 points. Carle scored six, Graddy and Riley netted two points each while Milligan and Olivia Manning contributed one point each.
BIC returns to action Monday night with a road trip to Lepanto to face East Poinsett County. The Lady Mustangs (11-10, 7-3 conference) will go to Marked Tree Thursday night before returning home to host KIPP Blytheville on Friday.
