Lions squeeze by Westside 57-55
Manila picked up a big road victory Tuesday night at Westside, knocking off the Warriors 57-55. The Lions scorched the nets from beyond the three-point arc, draining 12 three pointers, including four by Joel Burrow, who led Manila in scoring with 19 points.
Conner Belew also had a big night for Manila, pumping in 15 points on five treys, while Bradey Woodall also hit double digits, scoring 12.
Westside held a 17-13 lead after the opening quarter before the Lions roared back to take a 31-24 halftime advantage. Manila clung to a 44-43 lead heading into the final frame.
Cullen Felkins paced the Warriors with 21 points, all coming on three pointers, while brother Riley Felkins chipped in 15 more.
Manila took the junior high contest 42-17. Daley Belew paced the Lions with 16 points. Ty Wagner scored nine, Ausin Harmon had eight, Brian Gonzalez pitched in six, Alex Estell tallied two while Greg Patterson added one point.
