Pulaski Academy rallies past BIC

Buffalo Island Central saw their record slip to 6-6 following a 58-53 loss to Pulaski Academy in Saturday's Natural State Hoopfest at Jonesboro High School. The Bruins held a slim 19-17 edge after the first break but the Mustangs rallied to take a 29-26 lead into the dressing room at intermission. The Bruins battled back and forged a 38-37 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Tra Johnson poured in a game high 29 points to pace Pulaski Academy. Trey DePriest topped the Mustangs with 11 points while Canon Walling chipped in 10.

BIC rolled over KIPP Blytheville 54-29 Friday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex. Andrew McFarlin paced the Mustangs with 11 points, five rebounds and five assists. Walling added 10 points.

The Mustangs held a 17-11 lead after the first period before outscoring KIPP 24-2 in the second quarter to hold a 41-13 halftime advantage. BIC led 51-18 after three periods of play.

In junior high action, BIC improved to 11-2 on the season with a 62-42 win over KIPP. Jesse Fry led BIC with 20 points. Tate Schooley scored 16 while Drake Mitchell pitched in 10 points.

BIC began the week with a 64-53 loss to East Poinsett County Tuesday night at Montte. The Warriors jumped to a 14-8 lead after the opening quarter before taking a 33-22 advantage into the half. EPC led 44-33 after three quarters.

J'Sebian Brown led the Warriors with 18 points. Xzavier Reed scored 12 while Jesse Whitfield and Isaiah Taylor contributed 11 points each. Chayse Carmichael led the Mustangs with 16 points while Trey DePriest added 15.

In junior high action, BIC thumped EPC 51-25. Fry topped BIC with 19 points, John David Garrett netted 12 while Schooley chipped in 10 points and eight assists.

BIC will begin NEA Tournament play against Tuckerman. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
