Robertson leads Lady Rebels past Gosnell
Haven Robertson poured in 22 points and Riverside rolled over Gosnell 52-40 in senior girls basketball action Monday night at Gosnell.
The Lady Rebels held an 11-5 lead after the opening stanza before stretching their advantage to 26-15 at intermission. Riverside took a 37-28 lead into the fourth period.
Joining Robertson in double figures was Lotti Hoffman who pitched in 13 points. Brittney Sain scored six, Bailey Fisher had three while Hattie Milligan, Whitney Wagganer and Briley Douglas all added two points apiece. Mallory Felton chipped in one point. Riverside made good on 12-16 foul shots and nailed three triples.
Kaylee Miller and Zkiah Kuykendall topped the Lady Pirates with 12 points apiece while Kourtney Riggs added 10.
In junior high action, Riverside improved to 15-3 on the year with a 43-19 win over the Lady Pirates. Grace Ann Puckett scored 14 points to lead Riverside, who had 10 players hit the scoring column. Ashlyn Wright tallied six, Anna Meurer netted five, Beaner Hoffman and Lexi Hall contributed four points each, Pendegrass had three while Alexis Courtney, Carmen Campbell and Autumn Courtney all had two points each. Cailey Qualls added one point.
The Lady Rebels dropped a 39-29 decision to Dyersburg in the Gearld Jennings Classic Saturday afternoon at Lake City. The Lady Trojans led 13-9 after the first quarter and held a slim 20-19 edge at the half. Dyersburg outscored Riverside 11-4 in the third period to take a 31-23 advantage into the final frame.
Samariah Thompson led Dyersburg with 15 points. Robertson paced Riverside with 12, Fisher scored six, Sain netted five, Hoffman pitched in three, Milligan had two while Wagganer chipped in one point.
The Lady Rebels return to action Monday night when they travel to Westside. Riverside will host Harrisburg Thursday night before closing out the week by participating in the Pangburn Classic.
