Mustangs, Lady Mustangs post wins
Buffalo Island Central cruised to a 52-34 victory over Armorel Friday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette. The Mustangs (4-3) led 12-6 after the first quarter, 26-18 at the half and 41-24 entering the final frame.
Chayse Carmichael led BIC with 13 points while Cory Turner added 10 points and seven boards. Monroe Carr paced the Tigers with 12 points.
In junior high action, BIC downed Armorel 45-20. John Garrett Edwards led the Mustangs with 14 points. Jesse Fry tallied 12 while Tate Schooley chipped in 11.
BIC travels to Bay Tuesday night before facing Earle Friday night on the road.
In senior girls action, BIC crushed Armorel 54-28. Brianna Lambert poured in 23 points, including 20 in the second half, to break open a close game. Lambert dropped in seven treys on the night. Heather Sipes contributed 10 points, pulled down seven rebounds, dished out seven assists and came away with seven steals to aid the Lady Mustang cause. BIC forced a whopping 37 Armorel turnovers.
McKinley Carr paced Armorel with 13 points.
In junior high action, Armorel slipped past BIC 32-28 in overtime.
BIC came from behind to squeeze past Cross County 47-44 Monday night at the MAC. Haddyn Hurst drilled back to back treys in the final frame to key the Lady Mustang victory. Hurst finished with nine points. Sipes had a big night for BIC, scoring 24 points while grabbing 11 boards, dishing out five assists and adding four steals.
Brittan Belgard led the Lady Thunderbirds with 14 points while Kalianna Hill added 12.
In junior high action, Cross County beat BIC 26-16. Sarah Johnson paced Cross County with 14 points. Vicky Esparza led BIC with seven points.
The Lady Mustangs will head to Bay Monday night and to Earle Friday night.
