Johnny Bradshaw Boyd, 78, of Manila, passed from this life, Friday Dec. 2, 2016 at the Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born in Leachville, he was the son of the late Coy Willie and LaVon Bradshaw Boyd and was a lifelong area resident. Johnny was a 1956 graduate of Leachville High School and held a Bachelors degree in agronomy, with a minor in biology, from Arkansas State University. He was a farmer of cotton and soybeans, and was co-owner of Boyd Turf Farm. Johnny was a member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church near Manila. His hobbies included working crossword puzzles and visiting his friends at the Kennett compound. His favorite past time, however, was being PaPa Johnny to his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Nell Boyd, and a brother, Coy Mac Boyd, Sr.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jo Ann Smith Boyd of Manila; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Tonya Boyd of Manila; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Keith Decker of Martinsville, Vir., and Angie and Mike MacFarlane of Hot Springs, Ark.; and eight grandchildren, Sydnor Trent, Finley Trent, Christina Decker, Elizabeth Decker, Coy Elizabeth MacFarlane, Reid MacFarlane, Lilly Boyd, and Braden Boyd; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Sylvia Boyd of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister, Debbye Boyd of Little Rock.

Graveside funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in the Manila Cemetery with Rev. Larry Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 12-1:45 p.m. at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.

Pallbearers will be Royce Hawkins, Tommy Smith, Ray Benson, Robin Welch, Paul Kennett, and Adam Smith. Honorary pallbearers will include Bill Hawkins, Nelson Benson, Terry Smith, Jim Walker, Tom Puckett, Ralph Wells, Jim Branscum, and Darrell Denbow.
