Lady Rebels rally past BIC 49-41
Riverside outscored Buffalo Island Central 10-1 over the last 4:39 of the fourth quarter to rally past the Lady Mustangs 49-41 in senior high basketball action Thursday night at Monette.
The Lady Rebels held a 21-17 lead at the half before falling behind 35-33 entering the final frame.
Riverside shot lights out from the foul line, going a perfect 11-11 in the second half, including a nine for nine performance in the fourth quarter alone.
Hattie Milligan led the Lady Rebels with 13 points, while Brittany Sain and Haven Robertson scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Milligan connected on all 10 of her free throw attempts.
Heather Sipes topped BIC with 18 points, six rebounds and five steals. Molly Hart also had a big night for the Lady Mustangs, contributing 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals.
In the junior high contest, Riverside rolled over BIC 41-10. Grace Ann Puckett and Lexi Hall led Riverside with 10 points apiece while Hannah Carle paced BIC with seven points.
Riverside began the week with a 53-42 victory over Marmaduke, breaking the Lady Greyhounds' 35 game home winning streak. The Lady Rebels led 23-19 at the half and 42-33 after three quarters.
Sain led Riverside with 15 points while Bailey Fisher added 13 more. Robertson had 10 points.
Natalie Shelton paced Marmaduke with 14 points while Natalie Lentz and Scout Weatherford added 12 points each.
In junior high play, Marmaduke remained unbeaten with a 52-43 win over Riverside. Emma Foster paced the Lady Greyhounds with 18 points. Puckett scored a game high 26 points to top Riverside.
Riverside (4-1) blasted Armorel 53-8 Friday night at Lake City. Fisher led the Lady Rebels with 14 points. Whitney Waggoner tallied 11 while Mallory Felton chipped in 10 points.
Riverside also took the junior girls game 45-18.
The Lady Rebels return to the hardcourt Monday night at Lake City for a rematch with BIC. Riverside will close out the week by playing in the Marmaduke Classic on Saturday.
