Kim Zielinski home recognized
The home of Kim Gallant Zielinski, 113 Northview Street, was chosen as the Monette Fall Yard and Decorations winner for October.
"We have noticed that several homes throughout the city have colorful fall displays and decorations," said City Beautification Chairman Barbara Suber. "Our committee wanted to recognize them for their efforts and to show our appreciation for making the city look so nice during this fall season."
A special ceremony was held Sunday, Oct. 16, to recognize the Fall Yard and Decorations winner. Committee member Jessica Hurst presented Mallie Zielinski with a framed certificate signifying the special recognition. Committee member Joe Russell presented Kim with a basket of orange and yellow potted mums.
A yellow and black Yard of the Month sign was placed in the Zielinski front yard to acknowledge the City Beautification Yard of the Month fall winner award.
Kim is a finance clerk at Nucor-Yamato Steele. She has a son, Seth Eatmon, and a 12-year-old daughter, Mallie Zielinski, who is in the seventh grade this year.
The Zielinski yard has a wide variety of fall decorations, which includes a 10' hay bale scarecrow structure, surrounded by orange, yellow, white and pink mums, along with pumpkins and colorful leaves. Fall colors of red, yellow and orange were placed all around the front entrance.
"We are currently undergoing renovation to our home and have a lot of things yet to finish," Kim said. "We hope to add several more bushes and plants next year."
The home is surrounded by several trees, shrubs and flowers, which include boxwood, Japanese maples, hostas and lantana.
The spacious home sits on two large lots. The brick home contains three bedrooms, two full baths with half bath, den, living room with fireplace and kitchen. A pool is on the south side of the home and has a wooden deck with patio that wraps around the back of the house.
