Conner Jackson finishes strong in 5K

The 28th annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival was held in Fayetteville on Saturday, Oct. 1. This event is known as one of the premier events in the nation with teams traveling from numerous states around the area. This festival played host to over 80 college teams and 120 high school teams this year and was held on the cross country course at the University of Arkansas.

The 6,000 runners participated across all level. Connor Jackson (eighth grader at Manila Middle School) ran in the junior high 5k event, finishing with a time of 18:54 which placed him 46th out of 895 runners. This event consisted of seventh through ninth graders from schools ranging in size up to 7A.
