Edna Tucker Dowless
Monette -- Edna Tucker Dowless, 92, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016. She was born Feb. 12, 1924 in Hollywood, Mo. She was the daughter of the late Modie and Edith Tucker and sister to Marion Tucker and Bill Tucker.
A consummate mother and homemaker, Edna was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. As a young person she enjoyed sports and spending time with family and continued to be active most of her life. Edna was a talented seamstress and loved to make things for others. She is remembered fondly by all that knew her as a hardworking and kind lady. Mrs. Dowless made her home for most of her life in Monette and was a long-time member of the Monette Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Dowless, and daughter, Nancy Dowless Holt.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Kenneth Dowless of Little Rock; granddaughters, Rebecca Hamm and Melissa Morris; son-in-law, Kent Holt all of Florence, Ala. Edna was a proud great-grandmother to Davis, Lilly, and Carter Hamm and Molly and Claire Morris, also of Florence.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Wednesday at the Monette Church of Christ.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Monette Church of Christ with Art Smith and Josh Parnell officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Ricky Copeland, Larry Ladd, Robert Chambers, Bryon Sparkman, Josh Parnell and Kevin Baldridge.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Monette Manor Nursing Home and St. Bernards Medical for their care at the end of her life.
