The 17th annual community reunion was held Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Manila Airport Center.

Friends, family members and neighbors from Lost Cane, Little River, Whistleville and Roseland gathered.

The friends, family and neighbors have a special bond with special memories of growing up and living in the close-knit, rural communities. Many attended school together in the Lost Cane School District and enjoyed looking through the memorabilia of school paper, class pictures and more.

Several members of the Lewis family, along with other residents and former residents of the Lost Cane, Whistleville, Little River, and Roseland communities gathered for the 17th annual Community Reunion.

Boyd Estes, chairman and one of the original organizers, expressed his appreciation to the committee members who help make the reunion happen.

The reunion was established in memory of James Lloyd Mathes, longtime educator at Lost Cane. His daughter, Weltha Kay Tripplett, attends the reunion each year and shares her fond memories of the community.

Mr. Estes introduced Jeff Knowlton, new pastor of the Little River Baptist Church.

A potluck luncheon, along with prize drawings were enjoyed.

Jimmy Veach commended Estes for his efforts in organizing and keeping the reunion going through the years.

Estes gave several certificates of appreciation.
