Poker Run to benefit Relay for Life

The 2016 Relay for Life Poker Run was held Saturday, Aug. 27, with 31 bikes and 44 bikers and passengers participating.

Getting ready fro the 2016 Relay for Life Poker Run starting at the Melody Theater in Leachville.

The annual event is sponsored by Belles and Beaus Relay team with Teresa Edgin and Sheila McCoy co-chairs for the event.

It was a good day for the ride starting at the Melody Theater in Leachville. Stops included Jordans/Taco Bell in Brookland; Kum & Go/Fresh Market in Paragould; Jordans/Subway in Lake City and back to Leachvile for drawings, a meal, and the announcement of winners.

Best Hand was won by Joey Grooms of Paragould. He won the camo child's recliner donated by Robertson Brothers Furniture.

The worst hand went to Sam Guge of Leachville. He won a LED flashlight donated by Hufford's Lumber and Hardware.

Other prize winners included Mark Davis, a pliers set donated by Bumper to Bumper; James Baker of Monette won a $10 cash prize donated by Herren's Live Bait and Tackle; Jane Whetsel of Walnut Ridge won a $20 gift certificate donated by Monette Farmers Market; Chloe Amick of Jonesboro won a $20 gift certificate donated by Monette Farmers Market; Lisa Berry won two barbecue buffet gift certificates donated by Bigg Butts BBQ; and Justin Kersey of Leachville won five personal pizzas donated by MammaLucas in Monette.

Edgin expressed her appreciation to everyone who participated and donated prizes and other items. Baker Truck and Implement of Arbyrd donated drinks; Faulkners Grocery donated food items; businesses which allowed stops along the way; the selfie challenge at KAIT; and Back Alley designs in Kennett for the tee shirts.

"We appreciate all of the volunteers and supporters," Edgin said. "The event raised $1,000 for the Relay for Life American Cancer Society.
