Edwin Johnson joins Manila Nursing Center staff
Edwin Johnson is the new director of nursing (DON) at Manila Nursing Center. Johnson served as DON at Heritage Square for a year before transferring to the Manila facility the first of August.
He is a native of the Manila area growing up at Carroll's Corner and graduated from Manila High School in 2005.
His desire to go into health care came from watching his mother who is a nurse. Going into nursing was natural for Johnson.
He attended nursing school at Arkansas Northeastern College earning a RN Degree.
He has worked in long term care as well as working at Twin Rivers Hospital and the emergency room at Great River Hospital. He enjoys all aspects of nursing but keeps coming back to long term care.
Johnson lives one a half mile from where he works and if he is needed, he can be there in minutes, he said.
The Manila Nursing Center has a staff of 12 nurses and 20 to 20 CNAs.
"I do have a vested interested in Manila Nursing Center," he said. "I want to help make this facility the best it can be for all of the residents. I want to make sure I would feel comfortable to bring my family here if the need came about."
