Wildy Farms included in U.S. Senator's Agriculture on Tour
A tour of the Wildy Farms near Manila and Leachville was part of U.S. Senator John Boozman's sixth annual agriculture tour on Wednesday.
Senator Boozman and staff were welcomed by the David Wildy family, 2015 Arkansas Farm Family of the Year. The group took a tour of the fields including corn, peanuts and cotton before gathering at the farm shop to discuss issues concerning Arkansas agriculture.
Wildy expressed his appreciation to the Senator for his support in agriculture.
Wildy said he feels blessed to have his family want to come back and continue to build a strong family farm.
He said farmers are facing tough times.
"We are here to produce a crop," Wildy said. "We love what we do. We want to continue to do it."
Discussion included the Farm Bill, crop insurance, irrigation investments, and other issues facing farmers.
"The farming community appreciates what you do for agriculture," Wildy said.
Senator Boozman encouraged Wildy and other area farms to continue what they are doing, saying there is strength in numbers. He praised the Ag Council for doing a good job.
