Plans were completed last week for the upcoming Childress High School reunion slated for Saturday, September 3, in Monette.

The Childress school was located on Highway 139 north of Monette and was in existence from 1921 to 1961, before consolidating with Monette High School. The former CHS classmates hold a reunion every three years on the BIC West Elementary campus, in Monette.

This year's reunion will begin with registration at 10 a.m. followed by a program at 1:30 p.m. Classmates will be asked to donate $10 each, at registration, to offset expenses of the reunion. There is no cost for any other guest. A silent auction will be held during the event to support the Childress Scholarship of $500, which is awarded to a high school senior annually.

Bigg Butt's BBQ, of Leachville, will be on site to provide the noon meal during the reunion. Group photos and special entertainment will round out the day's festivities. A CHS Yearbook has been printed for the event, which includes photos, classmate contact information, and updates on the CHS Monument and Monette Veteran's Park.

A Facebook page titled "Childress Eagles" keeps the former students in contact with each other as to classmate updates and reunion details.
