Donald Ray Hampton, 83, of Manila, passed from this life Monday June 6, 2016, at his home. Born in the Buckeye community he was the son of the late Rufus Rastus and Alta LaVern Crawford Hampton and had been a lifelong Manila area resident. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he later retired after 20 years of service in the Army reserve. He was a longtime employee of the former Brown Shoe Company in Leachville and served 27 years with the Manila Volunteer Fire Department. Donald was the former owner and operator of Hampton's Drive-In of Monette and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monette.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Faye Holt.

Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Callie Faye Yates Hampton of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Derick and LaDonna Hampton of Monette; one sister, Betty Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla. He also leaves two grandchildren, Aaron Hampton and Crystal Hampton, and four great-grandchildren, Emily Hampton, Amber Bias, Katelyn Hampton and Kennedy Faye Hampton.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday June 9, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Matt Pryor officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Macey Cemetery near Monette.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Boling, Steve Shelton, Robbie Veach, Monte Middleton, Ricky Jackso, and James Skinner. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Manila Volunteer Fire Department, U.S. Army Reserves, and Carol and June Towell.

The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.
