Caraway Hot Rods, Hoops and Barbecue Fest successful

Caraway Community Volunteers sponsored the first annual Hot Rods, Hoops and Barbecue Fest on Saturday, April 22.

It was a perfect day for the event which brought out five cooking teams, antique cars and trucks, vendors with lots of music, food and fun for the day.

Barbecue teams included Joe Barajas, Kris James, Jack Sparkman, Aaron Liles and Fat Pig BBQ by Bo James. The categories included ribs, burgers and bologna.

Bo James won in the hamburger and bologna categories. Kris James won in the rib category.

The Tri-County Band provided entertainment for the day.

Trucks and cars from the 1920s to the early 1970s, along with motorcycles were on display.

Eddie Spencer of Black Oak won in the motorcycle category with his 1998 Harley Davidson Sportster.

Terry Emery won in the 1950 and above category with his 1972 Chevrolet Nova. In the 1949 and older category, Gary Davis won. Davis also received the Mayor's Choice award.

Proceeds from the day will go to Christmas baskets and Toys for Tots, sponsored by the Caraway Community Volunteers.
