The Monette Veterans Park committee gave thanks for the donation of $2,500 presented by Earnestine Harrell on behalf of Leadership Buffalo Island at the April 18 meeting. Nan Snider presided over the meeting in the absence of Chairman Henrietta Qualls.

Snider shared templates of thank you cards to be used until permanent design is available.

Some members shared concerns for existing structures near the location. Some ideas were shared and various members offered to look into possible solutions.

The Committee viewed and discussed two bids for the memorial to be placed on the park grounds submitted by Northeast Arkansas Monument Company and McHaney Monuments Inc. The decision was tabled until various questions concerning materials, pricing details, and engraving font, among others, could be answered.

It was also requested that more detailed and itemized lists be made available as well as separate pricing for all material, labor and any warranty or future fees involved in the project.

Barbra Suber shared progress made by the City Beautification Committee over the weekend of April 15. High school students helped prepare pots for planting roses. They also began work around the downtown area including the lot set for the Veteran's Park location.

The next Veteran's Park committee meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, May 16, in city hall.
