Lake City Council accepts paving bid

Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan opened bids for Carter Street paving project at the Monday, April 18, city council meeting. The bids were for paving 1,504'x22' beginning at Fourth Street and going south to Nash Street.

Bids were received from Barker Brothers and Atlas Asphalt.

The council voted unanimously to accept the bid from Atlas Asphalt for $33,734.

All Aldermen, Jeffery Wisham, Tommy Eakins, Harold Barker, Brenda Hutcheson, Donald Davis and Danny Dunigan, were present.

Mayor Milligan told the Council the engineer working on the Rural Development/ Water Tower project was not able to attend the meeting. The council voted to table the item until the next meeting.

Mayor Milligan informed the Council that the property located at 300 Main was now settled and with the approval of the Council, the City can now proceed with the sale of the property.

The council approved moving forward with the sale of the property with the city recovering funds it has spent on the property.

Mayor Milligan said Mrs. Smith with the Veterans Administration was not able to attend the meeting but has promised to be at next month's meeting to discuss the sale of 1007 Estelle, city owned property.

The next regular council meeting will be 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 16, at city hall.
