All members of the Monette City Council were present with the exclusion of Bob Hurst, Sr. for a special meeting April 11.

The meeting was called to consider the purchase of a new dump truck. After a dump truck currently owned by the city was found to no longer be of use, a replacement has been found. The new vehicle, a Ford F700, will include a snow plow and was listed for $8,000 in Anna, Ill. City employees are scheduled to travel to llinois where the dump truck is located on Wednesday, April 13. Alderman Larry Bibb abstained from the vote stating he felt he would need more information in order to make a decision.

The Council discussed details concerning the placement of a portion of Sanitation Funds into a certificate of deposit (CD). During the March meeting, the Council agreed to pay off a debt of $39,465.17 and place some remaining money into a CD. The Council chose to transfer $100,000 into a CD with Centennial Bank a rate of .89 and no penalty for withdrawal. An estimated $105,000 will remain in the sanitation fund following the transfer.
