Buffalo Island Central stretched its winning streak to seven straight games with victories over Rector and East Poinsett County before dropping a 7-2 decision Friday afternoon at Westside to close out the week.

The Mustangs kicked things off Monday with a 12-7 2A-3 conference victory over Rector, before downing East Poinsett County 7-2 Thursday afternoon in another league matchup.

Brandon Towery went the distance in helping the Mustangs defeat EPC. The southpaw gave up just four hits and two runs while fanning eight Warriors on the afternoon. Andrew McFarlin and Logan Harrison belted two hits apiece while Evan Sanders, Dax Hurst and Chayse Carmichael all added singles. Brandon and Bryce Towery also had base hits for BIC.

The Mustangs (7-2, 6-1 2A-3) return to action Monday afternoon with a road trip to Osceola. BIC will travel to Marmaduke Tuesday before closing the week with a home game Thursday against Marked Tree.

The Lady Mustangs evened their record in conference play at 3-3 with a thrilling 9-8 victory over EPC Thursday afternoon at Monette. BIC led 8-2 before EPC rallied to tie the game 8-8 entering the bottom of the seventh inning. The Lady Mustangs loaded the bases before pushing across the winning run when Morgan James walked, allowing Madison Nowlin to cross the plate with the game winner.

BIC's Jealynn Cates slides safely into home, giving the Lady Mustangs one of their nine runs on the day. BIC went on to defeat the Lady Warriors 9-8 in 2A-3 conference softball action Thursday at Monette.

Heather Sipes led BIC at the plate, going 3-4, including a two-run triple. Sipes also scored twice. Molly Hart had two singles, scored twice and drove in a run. Lexie Ray singled, doubled and had an RBI while Kayla Griffin went 2-4 with a run scored. Ray picked up the win for BIC.

The Lady Mustangs fell at Armorel 11-1 Friday afternoon. Hart singled, doubled and scored a run while Jealynn Cates had an RBI double. Griffin added a single for BIC.

BIC returns to 2A-3 conference action with a road trip to Rector Monday afternoon before traveling to Marmaduke for another league game Wednesday.
