R.A. Davidson of Manila was recognized by the National American Legion for 60 continuous service years to The American Legion. A ceremony was held Sunday at American Legion Herman Davis Post 197 in Manila.

Mr. Davidson has been a longtime and dedicated member of Post 197 and was cited as an outstanding contributor to the programs of The American Legion.

The certificate was signed by National Commander Dale Barnett; National Adjutant Daniel S. Wheeler, and Mike Bunch, Post 197 commander.

Davidson served in the Navy from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict.

During his years of service to the American Legion he has served as Mississippi County Commander from 1977 to 1978; District Commander from 1980-1981; and Post Commander from 2008-2011.

The ceremony for Mr. Davidson was combined with a benefit fish fry for Post 197 Commander Bunch who is undergoing cancer treatments at the VA hospital.

The SOL organization (Sons of Legion, young men who have not served in the military but are sons of veterans) sponsored the fish fry which raised $850. Over 80 were in attendance for the event.
