Monette Council works through short meeting

Tuesday, December 22, 2015

Monette City Council held the monthly meeting at the Buffalo Island Museum Dec. 14 to discuss city business.

Following an executive session, the Council approved a $1,000 promotional raise for Kevin Bond of the Monette Police Department.

Resolution 2015-5, a conflict of interest policy, was approved by the Council. The policy forbids a council member bringing any possible conflict before the committee to participate in a final decision of the conflict.

Mayor Chub Qualls reported the paving of Carol Street is still expected to be completed in December.

During the November meeting Qualls informed the council of the possibility of an additional $2 per ton in landfill charges to cover recycling and blue bags. Nothing has been decided since, and the council will be updated when more is known.

The council tabled discussion concerning funding for the purchase of a new police vehicle, employee evaluation and raises and 2016 budget will be discussed and possibly voted on during the January meeting.
