Back Yard BBQ 2 opens in Lake City

Back Yard BBQ 2 opened at 918 Highway 18, Lake City, on Dec. 1. Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan and Linda Simpson, clerk/treasurer, welcomed the new business with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Dec. 10.

Owner Kim Davis said they have received a wonderful welcome since opening in the former Dairy Freeze building.

Davis has had Back Yard BBQ carry-out in Monette for over a year. She was encouraged by her customers to open a dine-in restaurant.

The new business offers dine-in, carry-outs, and a drive through window. There is also a large room for private parties.

"We have had a couple of Christmas parties here and all went well," Davis said. "We enjoyed serving them."

There is no cost for the room but there is a refundable deposit at booking time.

Back Yard BBQ 2 offers a full menu including breakfast, sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, meat by the pound, fried pies and much more.

Breakfast, including a Country Breakfast, Big Farmers Breakfast or biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and more, will be served from 6-10 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Tuesday through Thursday Back Yard BBQ 2 will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Catfish and all the trimmings will be served on Friday and Saturdays. The restaurant will be open for lunch on Sundays from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

"We are excited to be open and look forward to serving the people in Lake City and the surrounding area," Davis said. "Everyone has been friendly and welcoming. I am looking forward to 2016 to see what the New Year brings for us."

Mayor Milligan said he is excited to have them in Lake City.

"We are always glad to have new businesses in Lake City," Mayor Milligan said. "I want to encourage everyone to come out and support them."
