It was a short slate of basketball action due to the Thanksgiving holiday, with both the Riverside boys and Buffalo Island Central girls taking the week off. BIC's boys earned a pair of victories, defeating Piggott and Crowley's Ridge Academy Monday and Tuesday nights while the Lady Rebels fell at Rivercrest on Monday. The Lady Lions picked up a victory Monday at Gosnell while the Manila boys suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday night at Cedar Ridge.

BIC placed four players in double figures, defeating Piggott 60-41. The Mustangs jumped to a 25-10 lead after the first quarter and held a commanding 42-21 advantage at the half. BIC took a 57-30 lead into the final frame. Travon Cobb led the Mustangs with 16 while Canon Walling added 12. Dax Hurst and Cory Turner pitched in 10 points apiece. BIC took the junior high contest 47-30.

Cobb's 32 point performance highlighted BIC's 82-48 thumping of CRA. The Mustangs (5-2, 2-0 2A-3) out-scored the Falcons 34-7 in the third period to pull away for the victory. Walling added 17 points while Andrew McFarlin contributed 13. BIC canned 18 three pointers on the evening.

Riverside dropped a 72-54 decision to the Lady Colts, who got 23 points from Jordan Elder. Sydney Lane added a double-double for Rivercrest, scoring 19 points while grabbing 10 rebounds. DeDe Williams and Kayla Jarrett added 11 and 10 points respectively. The Lady Rebels placed three players in double digits, led by Haven Robertson's 14 points. Bailey Fisher scored 13 while Skylar Kauke chipped in 10. Grace Anne Puckett pumped in 16 points to lead the Junior Lady Rebs past Rivercrest 37-28.

Cedar Ridge overcame a one point third period deficit to take a 52-49 come from behind victory over Manila. A three point shot at the buzzer by the Lions bounced off the rim as Manila fell to 3-1 on the season.

The Lady Lions evened their season record at 2-2 with a 47-34 victory over Gosnell.

In action on the hard court this week, Manila's boys travel to Paragould to face CRA Tuesday night before hitting on the road to take on Ridgefield Christian Friday night in Jonesboro. The Lady Lions will host this week's Gerald Jennings Tournament beginning Monday night. Manila will face Gosnell in the opening round.

Riverside hosts Rector Tuesday night in a 2A-3 conference matchup and will also participate in this week's Williams Baptist College Tournament at Walnut Ridge. The Lady Rebels will play in the Gerald Jennings Tournament at Manila and will travel to South Pemiscot on Thursday before going to Nettleton for a Saturday morning game against the Lady Raiders.

BIC travels to Cross County Tuesday night before playing host to Harding Academy Thursday night. The Mustangs close out the week with a key conference matchup Saturday against Earle at the Mustang Athletic Complex. The Lady Mustangs also travel to Cross County for a conference matchup Monday and will host Harding Academy and Earle Thursday and Saturday respectively.
