Smackover knocks out Manila 53-16 in Class 3A state playoffs

Top seeded Smackover played the role of poor host, spoiling Manila's first state playoff appearance with a 53-16 victory over the Lions Friday night in Class 3A state football playoff action.

Buckaroo quarterback Beau Burson hit eight of 10 passes for 140 yards and four touchdowns to lead the 6-3A champions.

University of Arkansas commit Jordan Jones caught six passes for 128 yards and two scores as the Buckaroos improved to 9-2 on the year.

Jake Helton and Aaron Carter scored touchdowns for the Lions, while Kyle Bell added a two point conversion.

Manila finishes its most successful season with a 6-5 record.
