Monette -- Royal Fletcher, 81, passed this life Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice in Jonesboro. He was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Monette to the late Ernest and Vivian Simpson Fletcher. Royal was a graduate of Bay High School and Arkansas State University, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. For many years he was vice president and co-owner of Continental Telephone Directory. He was a member of Monette Baptist Church, ASU Alumni Association and the Monette American Legion.

He is survived by a sister, Pat Fletcher Eggers (Noell) of Monette; two brothers, Carl Fletcher (Donna) of Hardy and David Fletcher (Ann) of Cabot; nephew, Shannon Morris (Sandra) of Monette, as well as other nephews/nieces, great-nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Monette First Baptist Church.

A celebration of his life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Reed and Rev. Rusty Bird officiating under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette. Burial will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Lester Mullen, Carroll Simpson, Martin Lee Steed, Freddie Heise, Frank Smithee and Paul Williams and honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.

The family wishes to give thanks and appreciation to the following, Dr. Havdala, Dr. Cohen and Dr. Mark Sifford and the wonderful St Bernard's CCIU staff, Dr. Miguel Aguina with the entire staff at Advanced Care Hospital in Searcy and Dr. Ben Owens and the entire staff at Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House.
