BIC boys, Riverside girls take Marmaduke Junior Invitational titles
Buffalo Island Central squeezed past Riverside 42-37 to claim the championship of the Marmaduke Junior Invitational Tournament Saturday afternoon. It marked the third consecutive year the Mustangs have brought home the tournament championship.
Taylor Gipson paced BIC, scoring 15 points, including four three pointers. Noah Teeter pitched in nine while Blaine Wildy added eight.
Luttrell Brown led the Rebels with 15 points while D.J. Bowers chipped in 10 more.
Riverside advanced to the championship game with a 51-41 victory over Marmaduke Thursday night. Brown led the Rebels with 20 points while Steven Stroud added 17 more. D.J. Bowers contributed seven, Ryan Austin tallied three while Marquis Nelson and Hunter Swaim added two points apiece.
Billy Elder scored a game high 22 points to lead the Greyhounds.
The Lady Rebels took the girls title with a 33-31 win over Marmaduke. Grace Anne Puckett led the Lady Rebels (4-0) with 12 points.
BIC downed Armorel 49-14 to take the consolation game. Morgan James led the Lady Mustangs with 19 points while Brianna Lambert added 15.
