Caraway Council moving forward with plans to purchase backhoe
Caraway Council voted unanimously in favor of Resolution 2015-1 to allow Mayor Barry Riley to go forward with an application for a GIF grant, up to $150,000, to be used on the purchase of a new backhoe for the city.
All council members were present at the Sept. 14 meeting. Members are John Boatman, Mitchell Tipton, Bo James, Roger Williams, Marvin Browning and Mark Bell.
Fire Chief Scott Browning informed the council of the need for pagers for the firemen. Council agreed to purchase them at a cost of $1,300 from the Act 833 funds.
In other business the council:
*voted unanimously in favor of Resolution 2015-2 to promote job training for future workforce needs in the community.
*voted to pay $3,300 owed for work done on the fire department building renovation for the new fire truck.
*agreed to have Ordinance 2015-3, to set items to go on city asset list at a minimum of $2,000, prepared by the city attorney for the council to vote on at the next meeting.
*discussed included street repairs needed on Kentucky, Tennessee and New York streets.
*discussed properties that still need cleaning up and the progress being made.
