BIC and Manila post victories in golf
Buffalo Island Central dominated its four team match at Osceola Monday afternoon, firing a winning score of 114. Junior Trey DePriest claimed medalist honors, shooting a three under par 33 to lead the Mustangs. Dax Hurst carded a 40 while Andrew McFarlin finished his round with a 41 in the play four, count three, format.
Armorel finished a distant second with a 134 score. Osceola was third, shooting a 141 while Harrisburg came in fourth at 156.
In girls play, Rivercrest won the team event with a 165 score. The Lady Mustangs sent two golfers. Kensie Walker shot a 54 while Jona Carmichael carded a 59.
BIC traveled to Corning Aug. 31 and captured a five team match with a 109 winning tally. Manila came in second with a 126. Rivercrest was third, shooting a 148, Riverside came in fourth with a 155 total while Crowley's Ridge Academy finished fifth with a 185 score.
DePriest claimed medalist honors, carding a round of two under par 34. Miles Gifford shot an even par 36 while Hurst came in with a three over 39.
Joel Burrow led the Lions with a one over par score of 37. Brock Birmingham fired a 42 while Neal Benson finished with a 47.
Larry Tilley's four over par 40 paced the Rebels. Cannon Smith shot a 48 while Justin Berry finished with a 67.
In girls play, BIC's Ashley Field and Riverside's Brittney Ditto both shot 53's to share medalist honors. Carmichael and Walker finished with scores of 54 and 57 respectively for the Lady Mustangs while Grace Wilson shot a 69 for Riverside. Loren Davison carded a 61 for Manila while teammate Allie Edwards shot a round of 67.
BIC won a dual match over CRA Tuesday, Sept. 1 at The Links in Jonesboro. The Mustangs fired a team score of 100, led by medalist Dax Hurst who fired an even par 31. McFarlin carded a 34 while DePriest finished with a round of 35.
In girls play, Walker took medalist honors with a 46 while Carmichael shot a round of 50.
Manila defeated four other teams in a five school match Sept. 1 at Corning. The Lions shot a winning score of 119 to take a three stroke victory over the host Bobcats.
Manila's Birmingham tied for medalist honors with Corning's Seth Robinson. Both golfers shot rounds of even par 36.
