Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan and Clerk Linda Simpson welcomed Medic One Ambulance Service to Lake City with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Ryan Kible, Medic One president, thanked Mayor Milligan, city officials and the fire department for providing the staff space to work. The west end of the fire station will be utilized by Medic One. One bay will be used to house the ambulance and office space was converted to living space for the ambulance staff.

"They spend half their time on duty and we wanted to make the living area as comfortable for them as we can," Kible said.

Mayor Milligan and Simpson enjoyed a tour of the newly remodeled living space which consists of two bedrooms, sitting area, small kitchen, office space and bathroom.

"It will enhance the care of the citizens with the ambulance located so close to the fire department," Kibler said. "Lake City has a great First Responder group. That is what makes a great community."

Medic One has five locations in Jonesboro, five in Southeast Missouri, Lawrence County and Pointsett County. Lake City gives Medic One a total of 15 locations.

"We are excited to have them here," Simpson said. "They will be an asset for our city."
