Officer involved shooting in Manila results in one death

Manila Chief of Police Jackie Hill said the investigation of the July 28 shooting involving a Manila officer has been turned over to the state police. Chief Hill said The officer is on administrative leave. The Arkansas State Police will submit information to the prosecuting attorney Scott Ellington. Chief Hill said they expect the results in the near future.

According to a report, the Manila officer was dispatched to a disturbance at 601 Highway 18 and Timothy Johnson, 49, of Manila was shot and killed shortly after 8 p.m. According to the initial report Johnson advanced toward the officer with a knife after being ordered to drop the weapon.

Johnson's body was taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for examination and to determine the cause of death.
