Kevin Stewart new administrator at Monette Manor
Kevin Stewart joined the Monette Manor team as administrator on March 30. The Monette native said he has had a great start with a lot of help from the staff.
Marla Layne, retiring administrator, worked with him for several weeks during the transition and he appreciates all her help and service to Monette Manor.
Stewart farmed for 10 years and was in agri retail since 2000.
He worked toward a career in the nursing home business and received a degree in business administration. He passed the state and national board examinations in 2013 and received an administrator's license.
Stewart and wife Nicole, BIC East elementary principal, have a daughter, Zaylee, who will be two in April.
Stewart has a place in his heart for the residents as he and Sue Steed have alternated Sunday morning services. He has been singing for the residents for 20 years or more and was well acquainted with the residents and the weekend staff.
After receiving his license, Stewart decided if the opportunity came for him to apply for the administration job at Monette Manor he would do so. He let owner Rick Sampson know he was interested. He said is is great to start a new career in his hometown.
"I absolutely love it," Stewart said. "I thank the staff, the community and the volunteers who all work together to make this a great place to live for our residents. They have all supported me and helped me get acquainted with all that goes on. I have a lot of people in the community who have encouraged me tell me they are glad I am here. I also want to thank Marla for staying with me and mentoring me."
