Worshipful Master David McCoy presented Gathright with a commemorative plaque in honor of his outstanding service. Jackie Bibb presented Norma Sue Gathright with a large bouquet of flowers.

"Gene has been an outstanding lodge member for the full 60 years, ever since he joined in February 1955," McCoy said. "He has served at every level of leadership and always supported the lodge in all of its charitable undertakings. He comes from a long line of family members who are also Masons."

A fish fry was served preceding the presentation to recognize special guests of the Gathrights along with the Masonic Lodge members and their families.

Gathright has farmed in the Monette area all his life. He is a 1949 graduate of Childress High School and an active member of the Monette United Methodist Church. He and his wife Norma are the parents of four children, Karen Hooks, Alan Gathright, Dennis Gathright and Larry Gathright.
