Lady Mustangs shut out Riverside in 2A-3 softball action

Buffalo Island Central defeated Riverside for the second time this season, shutting out the Lady Rebels 15-0 in 2A-3 softball action Tuesday afternoon at Monette.

Madison Greathouse worked three innings to earn the victory. The senior right hander struck out seven while allowing just one hit. Greathouse was also a perfect 2-2 at the plate, including a double and three runs scored.

Karoline Thomas and Molly Hart both slammed three-run homers for the Lady Mustangs. Thomas finished the day with four RBI and two runs scored while Hart had three RBI and scored a pair of runs.

BIC (8-1, 8-1 2A-3) trounced Marked Tree 20-1 Thursday afternoon behind the hitting of centerfielder Catherine Colbert. Colbert cracked four hits on the day and drove in two runs while crossing the plate twice.

Greathouse picked up the win, working four innings, allowing three hits to go along with three strikeouts. Hart went 3-3 at the plate with two RBI and three runs scored. Heather Sipes had three hits, scored three times and drove in three runs while Thomas belted her second homerun of the week, a three-run shot. Thomas finished with two hits on the day and four RBI.

Riverside walloped Crowley's Ridge Academy 14-1 Friday afternoon at Lake City. The Lady Rebels, (5-5, 5-5 2A-3) got a huge day from Kayli Womack. Womack picked up the win, going five innings, allowing one run on just three hits. Womack also went 3-4 at the plate and drove in six runs. Megan Davidson singled twice and had three RBI while Lauren Smith also added a pair of hits.

Riverside fell to EPC 9-1 Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Rebels will return to action Monday when they host Rector at Lake City. The Lady Rebels will travel to Marmaduke Tuesday afternoon before closing out the week with a nonconference game Thursday against Bay in Lake City.
