Riverside School Board voted unanimously, in favor of Superintendent Tommy Knight's recommendation, to hire Mark Manchester as assistant principal. Board members present were Mike Brown, Greg Douglas, Mike Brickell and Ricky Austin.

Knight said several candidates had been interviewed.

The board voted 4-0 to rehire all classified personnel. Knight said he had not received any resignations to date.

Larson Tate, project manager, and Mark Cahoon with Cahoon Steiling Studio, updated the board on the elementary building project on the East Campus in Caraway.

Tate said the plumbing is in the rough and if the weather permits they should be ready to pour concrete by the end of the week.

Cahoon said overall they are happy with the progress.

A ground breaking ceremony for the new elementary building is set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16.

Tate also informed the board bids will be taken for the bus shop and will be opened April 23.

Knight reviewed the proposed calendar changes due to snow days. Graduation will remain May 8 and the final day of school will be June 2.

Knight announced the district had received a career education department start-up grant for $27,402. It is a 100 percent funded grant for new equipment.

The board voted to accept the audit. Knight said there were only a few minor write-ups and steps are being taken to make corrections.

"The disaster recovery plan is inadequate and we are updating it to get it in compliance," Knight said. "We will need a resolution to do business with a local provider, and we could not locate a Smart Board purchased in 2007-2008 that had fallen off the wall."
