Richard Harold George

Richard Harold George, 74 of Caraway, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015, at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

He was born September 25, 1940, in Kennett, Mo., to the late Olen and Helen George. Mr. George served his country proudly in the United States Army for forty-eight years both active duty and reserves. He served during and in two wars and was stationed with the Missouri 1137th MP Company. He lived in Poughkeepsie most of his life and later moved to Caraway.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Louise George; his children, Pamela Carter (Ben) of Paragould, Ricky George of Poughkeepsie, Dana George, Ginger Milligan (Joshua), Garland Tipton (Sue) all of Caraway, Melissa Nelson (Lee) of Jonesboro; a daughter-in-law, Lena Jo Tipton of Caraway; a sister, Janet McCulley (Jerry) of Kennett; a brother, Scottie George (Cindy) of Eupora, Miss.; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a lifelong friend Hoyt.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Roy Tipton; two great-grandchildren, Gracein Mallard James and Christopher Gamble.

A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Rowes Chapel Church with Rev. Glen Hoselton officiating. Burial will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are the members of the Missouri 1137th MP Company.
