Betty Lou Roe

Betty Lou Roe, 87, longtime Leachville resident and widow of Finis Roe, died Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born Sept. 4, 1927, in Caraway, she was the daughter of the late Welzie and Emma Smith Houchin and was a 1944 graduate of Lepanto High School. She had been a Leachville resident for over 65 years and was a retired cosmetologist and Avon representative. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Leachville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dora Lee Lowrey, and a nephew, Tom Houchin.

Survivors include two nieces, Nettie Lou James of Jonesboro and Diana Marie Riggs of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two nephews, Johnny Wayne Houchin of Monette and

Charles Lowrey of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday March 17, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Jerry Kausler and Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
