Logan Knight joined the Manila Police Department Feb. 16.

The certified officer has over nine years experience as a fire fighter and police officer.

Knight and his family moved to Manila from Russellville in August 2014. He and his wife, Nicole, have been married for 12 years and have one daughter, Haley, 4, a pre-kindergarten student at Manila Elementary School. Mrs. Knight has nine years experience in banking and is now working for Farmers Bank & Trust.

Originally from the Manila/Blytheville area, Knight is the son of Dwight and Freda Knight and grandson of William Knight and the late Sue Knight.

Knight was with the Russellville Fire Department for nine years. He started his law enforcement career part-time with the Pope County Sheriff's Department four years ago and was a part-time officer with the Pottsville Police Department.

His experience led him to a full time position with the Arkansas Tech University Police Department where he worked for two years before moving to Manila.

Knight is a 10-year certified emergency medical technician (EMT).

"I am happy to be in Manila," he said. "Manila has a lot to offer and hopefully it will continue to grow. It is a good place to live."

With the addition of Knight, Manila has six full time officers.

"I think Logan will be a great asset to the department and the city," Manila Chief of Police Jackie Hill said.
