New Miss. Co. Veterans Service Officer welcomed

Jim Dixon, Mississippi County Veterans Service Officer

Jim Dixon is the new Mississippi County Veterans Service Officer. His goal is to serve the veterans and their families.

Dixon is a veteran who served in the military from 1969 to 1979. Originally from Reyno, Ark., he is a long-time Mississippi County resident.

He retired from American Greetings and worked for a short time as code enforcement officer in Gosnell.

"It is a privilege to serve the veterans of Mississippi County," Dixon said. "I am looking forward to getting started and meeting veterans from throughout the county."

There are over 3,600 veterans in Mississippi County.

Dixon will be in Manila City Hall from 9-11 a.m. Thursdays, 561-4437; Westminister Village Library from 1-4 p.m. Thursdays, 278-9295; Osceola Courthouse, from 9-11 a.m. Tuesdays, 563-1308; and the main office in Blytheville at the Court Complex (former Moore Building) from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 763-0509.

Dixon and his wife Oiy live in Gosnell.
