Gavin Stone's school record 3-point barrage leads Rebel rout over CRA
Gavin Stone set a Riverside school record, drilling nine three pointers in the Rebels' 70-22 massacre of Crowley's Ridge Academy in 2A-3 conference play Tuesday night in Paragould. Stone finished with a game high 29 points, all in the first half, as the Rebels improved to 12-5 overall and 5-1 in league play.
Brandon Sain chipped in nine points for the Rebels, who led 17-5 after the first quarter, before taking a staggering 50-10 advantage into the dressing room at the half. Riverside led 63-19 after three quarters of play.
Riverside took the junior high contest 58-30 behind the 22 point performance of Landon Moyer.
The Rebels traveled to Cherry Valley Friday night and posted a 66-57 conference win over Cross County. Riverside (13-5, 6-1 2A-3) was led by Luke Baker's 22 points. Baker also pulled down eight rebounds for the Rebels.Kollin Stone added a double-double, scoring 19 points while grabbing 11 boards. Gavin Stone chipped in 13 points.
Marcus Boykin led the Thunderbirds with 21 points while Jeremiah Patterson and Anfernee Davis added 13 points apiece.
In the junior high game, Riverside came away with a 52-43 victory. Dillon Turner led the Rebels with 19 points while Landon Moyer added 12.
Riverside will return to action Tuesday night, Dec. 23, in the Northeast Arkansas Invitational Tournament at the Convocation Center on the campus of Arkansas State University. The Rebels, the number six seed in the Division II Boys bracket, will take on 11th seeded Trumann at 7:30 p.m.
