Lake City Council approves budget
Lake City Mayor Jon Milligan presented the proposed 2015 budget for the council review at a special called meeting held Nov. 24. Following a discussion and review of the proposed budget the budget was accepted.
Mayor Milligan requested the council give Riverside School District a 15' easement for a sewer line, and a 20' easement for a road. He explained the school is going to build a maintenance building for the buses adjacent to the storm shelter at the Riverside Elementary property in Lake City. The easements are needed to proceed with the project. The council voted unanimously to approve the easement.
Mayor Milligan presented to the council information from Wells Fargo which is offering Donne Property to the city at no charge. The financial instituion frequently offers properties going through bankruptcy to cities provided the city will do something useful with it. The property is located at 1007 Estelle. Council voted to accept the property. City workers will work on the house when time allows and the city hopes to sell it to a family who can't obtain financing elsewhere.
A brief discussion on the new sanitation department was held. Council unanimously approved funds would be moved as needed from the General Fund to the City of Lake City Sanitation Department checking account until the department is up and running. The account will be reviewed on a monthly basis the same as all other financial accounts.
The next council meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at city hall.
