Bay knocks out Riverside in Williams Baptist semifinals
Colton Watson poured in a game high 25 points to lead four Yellowjackets in double figures in Bay's 80-64 victory over Riverside in the semifinals of the Williams Baptist College Tournament Wednesday night at Walnut Ridge.
Taylor Layne scored 19 points while Tyler Pritchett and Dustin Utley added 14 and 13 points respectively for Bay.
Gavin Stone topped the Rebels with 21 points. Kollin Stone tallied 11 while Luke Baker chipped in 10 more.
Riverside advanced to the semifinals with a 69-63 victory Monday night over Marmaduke. Gavin Stone burned the nets for 29 points, including 17 in the first half when the Rebels took a five point lead into intermission. Kollin Stone pitched in 16 points while Luke Baker added 14 more.
Eddie Page led the Greyhounds with 22 points while Lucas Dixon added 10.
Riverside blasted Rector 68-42 Tuesday night on the road in a 2A-3 regular season matchup. Kollin Stone's 17 point performance paced the Rebels while Gavin Stone also hit double digits with 12 points. Luke Baker scored 11.
The Rebels held a 16-13 lead after the opening quarter and took a 27-24 edge into the dressing room at the half. Riverside outscored the Cougars 23-13 in the third period to take a 50-37 advantage into the final frame.
Riverside returns to the hard court Monday night when they open play in the Gerald Jennings Invitational Tournament at Manila. The Rebels (7-4, 2-1 2A-3) will host Earle in 2A-3 conference play Tuesday night at Lake City before hosting Marked Tree in another league battle Friday night at home.
