Hughes broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter to close out a 77-63 victory over Manila Monday night in the Lions Den.

Myles Lee led the Blue Devils with 17 points while Marlon Warren added 15 more. Hughes led 28-24 at the half and took a 47-43 lead into the fourth quarter before outscoring Manila 20-10 in the final frame.

Caleb Reinhart pumped in a game high 27 points to lead the Lions, who also got 13 points from Thomas Davis.

In senior girls action, Hughes squeezed past Manila 54-51. Paris Perkins led the Lady Blue Devils with 28 points while Taylor Harmon paced the Lady Lions with 17.

In the Junior Lion Classic, Manila defeated Brookland 39-26 Tuesday night at home. Joel Burrow led the Lions with 12 points.

The junior Lions take on Riverside Monday night in the opening round of the Gerald Jennings Tournament at Manila. The senior Lions will open tournament play as the number two seed and will take on the East Poinsett County-Riverside winner Thursday night at 7:30. Manila travels to Blytheville to battle the Chickasaws Friday night.

The Lady Lions travel to Kennett Monday night in their only scheduled game of the week.
